Visit days are the final — and most important — stage in recruiting talented and productive PhD students. Prospective students typically have offers from multiple comparable universities, and are using the visit days to meet potential advisors and collaborators and figure out whom they will be working with for the next five to seven years. Having many high-quality meetings between students and faculty is key to helping both students and faculty find fruitful collaborations and recruiting students who will go on to succeed. That’s exactly what Visigoth can do for you.
Because they are so important, universities like to pull out all stops with on- and off-campus events, subject-specific breakout rooms, many catered meals, and one-on-one meetings scheduled based on student (and faculty) requests, mutual interest, and recommendations. Oh, and a fraction of participants are only attending over video conferencing. This makes them complex events with many moving parts.
If this is your first visit day, take a look at What, exactly, is a Visit Day?, which was written with the benefit of having organized nearly fifty visit days over a dozen departments.
If you’ve organized visit days before and are looking to make them smoother and easier to manage, take a look at Visigoth: A Summary and then drop us an email at
